Those long drawn out {vacation chronicles}

Well hi there! The year is coming to an end…so why not officially finish up the 2013 vacation chronicles?!

I don’t even know what day we are on…but it doesn’t matter because we are wrapping up the trip and just like in real life, going through all the pics and seeing the trip coming to an end makes me sad and I’m about to get pouty and foot-stompy and no one really wants to see that, do they? *someone pass me a tissue*

On our last day we were able to squeeze in one last hike in the Braulio Carrillo National Park before heading to the airport the following morning, and realizing that things were coming to an end made me feel slightly greedy with the surroundings, wanting to take in as much as humanly possible.

And THAT, my friends, is the end of the 2013 vacation chronicles!!! Holy shit, we made it! So ummmmm, are you ready for the 2014 trip?! 😉

hey! watch this…

There are so many wonderful things about visiting a foreign country. But one of my favorites is meeting the people and learning about different cultures. One of my favorite people I have ever met was Geovani Bogarin. Our meeting him was a total fluke- we had hired a driver, Wilson, to take us on the long trip from the airport in San Jose to our lodge, near the Arenal volcano. We had plans to spend part of the following day with Wilson, and as we discussed our likes and dislikes, he started telling us about a guide he was friends with, and how he felt we may enjoy spending some time with him.

We planned to meet the following morning and Geovani would be there, or he wouldn’t.

Well, he was. And we had such a great day with these two men! I will share more of our adventure later *cough* *cough* lord knows when *cough* But for now I just wanted to share this, simply because I was thinking about it this morning, and it made me smile.

We are in the middle of the rainforest, and Geovani says “hey! watch this!” We turn, and see this…

“Now,” he says, “please show Hollywood these photos.”

wait for it…..day 8 {vacation chronicles}

*gasp* I have opted to crawl out of my cave and continue on with the never-ending vacation chronicles. It’s almost embarrassing how long it is taking me to get these memories immortalized in “pulp”, but only almost. Because I am secretly loving that I have been so lazy with all of this…it allows me to relive everything 🙂

Day 8 brought me on one of my favorite hikes on this trip. I have a slight obsession with Vermont, and this hike brought me to a magical place that took Vermont and Costa Rica, threw them in a blender, and created this little concoction otherwise known as Juan Castro Blanco National Park. This park was absolutely stunning. We drove through farmland and farther and farther up into the clouds before finally reaching this hidden gem. There are times when I am in this country that I feel as though I am in another world, and this was certainly one of those places.

I love these two images so much, because it really sums up how this hike was….we were constantly pausing, looking, and just taking it all in. This land was absolutely stunning. It was so very quiet, and the clouds would roll in, and you just had to stop.

Something sort of magical happened while we were on this sort of magical hike. I don’t believe we ever could have seen this natural phenomenon on any other hike, it had to occur in this space. As we watched the clouds roll by, we noticed something incredible happening in the sky. I cannot even begin to describe the amazingness of watching this unfold in the sky. *swoon*

distractions

There was that time I was slowly but surely posting my {vacation chronicles}. I was reliving a lovely vacation and doing my damnedest to stretch that shit out for as long as humanly possible. Because who doesn’t love looking at other people’s vacation photos?!

And then I got totally and completely distracted. By life. By my silly little roller coaster emotions. By that little butterfly over there………………

Wait. What was I saying?

Oh. Distractions. Yeah. See how that happens? So yeah, I got distracted. And then Oops! I did it again! I went on another vacation. I wonder if maybe we should rename the blog something along the lines of “The Distracted Traveler”? Or maybe more appropriately “The Distracted Traveler Who Doesn’t Post Often Enough and Therefore Can Make It Seem as Though She Is On a Constant Vacation”? Yeah. That’s more like it.

So anywaaaaaaaaaays. I might possibly have returned to Costa Rica. And so I have more pictures. That’s all I have to say about that. Until I remember to post again….
