bird bumping

Don’t feel bad, I had no idea what bird bumping was either 🙂

Back in April, Fishin’ Frank asked us to come along on a little boat trip. It’s kind of a big deal to get me on a boat…I am NOT a fan of boating. At all. But he had a new boat he couldn’t wait to show off, that he customized for nature tours on the river. He needed some photos, I am a photographer, and well, voila! Plus…Frank is sort of hard to say no to 😉

So we went gator tailin’ and bird bumpin’. I’ll introduce you to gator tailin’ on a later date 🙂 Until then… a little bird bumpin’

What is bird bumpin’? Well…you quietly idle to boat up to the birds, and get as close as you can. That’s pretty much it. It was incredibly difficult to photograph, because the boat was constantly moving.  I was so caught up looking through the viewfinder, I was constantly surprised when I would look up and was a ridiculously short distance from some of these birds. Bumpin’ shoulders we were!

and my most favorite one…
