A Kitchen via an Angel

So….do you have angels in your life? We do! We have an angel…he is a top secret friend,,,and sometimes he does stuff. that is, well,,,,,angel-like! To have people like this in your life….yeah, I don’t really have any words for it. I mean…what do you say? Words like grateful, appreciative….GRATEFUL….these words do not come even close to what we feel for this person. Words fail me, so just look at this…..
(by the way…as a photographer, I am a bit mortified by these pics :p!!! clearly I am not a kitchen photographer!!!)

Can you say ewwwwww? Seriously…we had the ugliest kitchen EVER!

     Yeah, ummmmm…..I think I like!!!!!
Can you believe we never had cabinets over the frige before?
We are still waiting on the insert for this….but I have always wanted one of these!!!
a closer look at what the counter color looks like….
And this is what we will be using to do our backsplash……

A Rose for Tina…

I am a member of a photography forum that is very much like a family. A couple weeks ago we got the news that one of our members had lost her sister, Tina. In times like this…you are so overcome with the need to do something, anything. You just want to be able to take the pain away from those that are hurting. You want them to know that they are in your heart, that you are thinking of them. But what can you do? Well, we decided that we all had to do something. Tina’s favorite flower was a rose. We are photographers. So, we all made it a personal project to have a floral photo shoot. We would then add a quote, and all of the photos would then be placed into a book, which would then be delivered to Tina’s family. I wish there was more we could do. I wish I could take them all into my arms and tell them that everything will be okay. I wish I could take their incredible pain away from them. Instead, I can give them a rose for Tina….

Pout, Repeated

Ahhh yes, the pout again. Are you getting a sense of the mood I am in this week?! As I very slowly go through these shots, I am finding myself falling more and more in love with her pouts. (shhhhh, don’t tell her that! must. not. give. her. power.) It is funny, I tried so very hard to get Alyssa to smile. I wanted more then anything for Alyssa to smile. I tried, really I did. Even walked around with a big leaf sticking out of my hair (it’s all the rage in the jungles of somewhere far away!). But I failed. Miserably. And I was so sad. I wanted to get this pouter to smile, to show the world her silly smile, with all those missing teeth. But instead I got a lot of pouts. and arms crossed. and grumpy eyes. I think I even got a foot stomp or two. And I know I got some tears. Now…before you start getting all mad at me, thinking I made this poor little girl cry, here my side of the story! I swear it wasn’t my fault! You see, this was the night before she was set to board the plane and head home. She was not feeling very photogenic. In fact, she was feeling darn right sad. big tears sad. And I gotta tell you, I was too 😦
But here is the thing. I DID get a few smiles. And they are pretty good, too. But, when I look at these pouts…I fall in love. I fall in love with little Alyssa all over again, with all of her crazy moods, and attitudes, and giggles, and foot stomping, the girl that shares with me a love for pink, the girl that throws caution to the wind and gets her hair cut short, cuz really, why not? the girl that knows I have a soft spot for her pouts and exploits that weakness for all it is worth.

BooHoo pout

Ahhhhh, the pout. You have got to love a good pout face. It appears so simple…a protruded bottom lip. But appearances can be decieving my friends! A good pout is a science. You must practice, and practice hard. One is not simply born with this talent. Oh no. This trick of the lip requires patience, dedication, and of course, a sucker to fall for it. Otherwise, really, what is the point of a pout at all, other than to catch rain and passing insects that may get too close? Nope, the pout is something special. You cannot just poke that lip out there and expect something magical to happen. Uh-uh. You gotta woooork for it, and work hard. Once you master the pout, which can take years of training, some feel compelled to further their abilities, and master the puppy dog eyes, and then, if, and ONLY if, they can get those eyes down, the real trick comes out. The tears. Tears are tricky. It is easy for a seasoned pro to spot crocodile tears a mile away. Only the truly dedicated should set their sights on mastering the tears. But if you are able to master these things, world, looook out!!!

Meet Alyssa. She holds a master’s degree in the pout. And she is at the top of her class. This girl is gooood. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD, and I expect her to suceed in that venture very soon. Really, all I can say is, World, you better watch out. Alyssa will get you every time with those pouts of hers. See for yourself…..

don’t we all have days like this. If only we could pout like Alyssa! I am having a boohoo pout day, and to look at this sweet face…it takes the boo out of the hoo.

I love puppy dogs!!!! Meet Max and Meka (I hope I didn’t spell that wrong Jami!!!)

These two goofballs are such sweethearts. They are so lovey, and absolutely gorgeous. Their mommy and daddy take such good care of them…and it shows! They have the most gorgeous coats, and their behavior? My goodness are these pups well trained. Seriously….they soooooo put my pups to shame :)!

So here they are in all their glory 🙂 They were such good sports…it was HOT HOT HOT!!! But they worked the camera for me like they knew they were superstars!

I can’t wait to play with this!!!
I just loved the perked up ears
while watching the mailman!!

How Big Was It?….

This big:

Okay…so first and foremost….credit where credit is due—- this fish was caught with Capt. Robert Moore of If you are ever in the Charlotte Harbor area and need to charter a fishing trip, Robert is the man to call. Not only is he an amazing fisherman, he is a superstar! For two years he has had the opportunity to fish in the coolest tournament…the ESPN Mad Fin Shark Tournament. look for it, and TiVo it! It is an awesome tournament. Yup, we hang with the big guns 😀
Plus, seriously, you should see him when he wears his space pants….out of this world!!!

The cutie in the blue shirt? That is my one and only. Awwwwww 🙂

So, you know how it usually works. The guys come home, they tell you about the fish they caught. And my goodness were they ever big. Not just big, but HUGE. Thiiiiiiiiis big. And we all know to simply nod our heads, give ’em a good pat on the back, and then walk away so they don’t see us rolling our eyes. Because, COME ON! We all know how fisherman lie. They lie BIG! It is nothing personal guys, it just is what it is. The rod in your hand does something to your brains. It makes you believe that that fish really IS that big. But I am here to tell you, it isn’t so. It was just a little itty bitty minnow, not a humungazoid shark.

BUT, in my world, they are not lies. Nope, in my world, I know better than to question hubby, because holy poo, I have seen the reels he goes out with. I can barely pick them up. Seriously. And the hooks? Ummmm, yeah, I choose to pretend like I haven’t seen them, cuz they make me wanna poo my pants they are so big and scary. I am not a fan of my hubby’s fishing habits. They scare me. For about three months, every year, the big scaries come out of storage, and they take over our lanai. For three months I am forced to face my fear, whether I like it or not. I must look at the hooks that make me think he must be trying to catch a bus. And in all honestly, though I do not like to think about it, that is pretty much the size of what he is going after. But like I said, I choose not to think about it too. much.

So off he went the other day, and this is what he caught. This is not what he was trying to catch, but that is the funny thing about fishing. You sorta don’t get to pick and choose what will end up on the other end of the line. So he didn’t catch THE big one on that day, but he did catch a big one. So his three months are coming to a close, and he has yet to catch his dream, but not without trying. His day will come, and believe me, when it does….you will read all about it here!!!

Oh How I Looooove

this picture!!! I think this may be one of my new favorites. And this also happens to be most favorite little man, Super Max 🙂  My house is far too quiet and boring without the presence of Super Max and the Amazing Alyssa, the girl with THE best pout evvvvvver.
