Are you wondering what is so special about this picture? Is it not blaringly obvious??? No? Okay, then…this is my very first (excluding the high school photog class) manual shot. Yup- I finally took a step out of my happy little comfort zone. My hubby paid for an online photog class for me for Christmas…and it has been killing me!! See, the thing is this; I have the eye for the creative stuff. I don’t know why or how…but I am able to see things and know (most of the time) what will make a good shot. HOWEVER~ the technical stuff…poo on that! I suck at it! I have the absolute hardest time grasping how it all works…but if I ever want to go anywhere with this-it is sorta important that I learn it. So here I am taking a class on Exposure—the top thing that goes in one ear…floats around a little bit in my little brain, and then promptly exits. I just can’t seem to grasp it—-until yesterday. I am in my last week of my class…and I just learned something yesterday! Thanks to lots of encouragement from our instructor and some students, I plopped my wide butt down yesterday and basically refused to move until I actually knew what I was doing…and it worked YAY!
So, while there is nothing spectacular about this picture (other than the model herself), it is probably my most fave right now because I had complete and total control over how it turned out. Yup, I did it! Could it be better? Yup. Could it be more creative? Sure. Would I do it over? Uh-uh!

I am so bored today…but the worst part is I have sooooo much to do. You know those days when you just sort of wander from one thing to the next, but you never fishish what you are walking away from, and you know you are not going to finish what you are walking to either? That is today. I hate the day after Christmas!

These are my munchkins. Are they not the cutest things ever? They have been a holiday tradition for as long as I can remember…every tree has a naked spot-even the fake trees!- a spot where the branches just don’t fill in right, and that is where the munchkins get to live for the holiday season. They are my most favorite part of decorating the tree…sometimes they go up first, sometimes last, but you will always find the munchkins in their little nook in the tree!

Do you ever wish you could keep all the ornaments up all year long?!

Got Spirit?

So…these did NOT scan well at all, but I think you get the idea right? From top to bottom; front of card, inside, back. Who needs Hallmark?!

Happy holidays!!

This and That

Somehow I forgot to add one of my scavenger hunt entries…

Don’t you just love poinsettias? We bought a TON of them for our courtyard…they look so pretty!
So I don’t know about anyone else…but are the holidays feeling like a big tornado this year or what?! And I don’t even buy presents! Somehow it just seems more hectic this year-I JUST mailed out my cards yesterday. Bad slacker! I cannot believe Christmas is next week, and then it will be ove 😦 It may be hectic~but I love it! Listening to the chipper-cheery music and all the pretty lights…absolutely looove it.

So while my mom was here we HAD to go out to Boca Grande-our most favorite place- and of course we picked shells. It is so funny to realize all of the different ways photography affects my life~~~I look at the world entirely different-basically I look through the world through my lens, always analyzing situations to see if they are photographic…so when I went shelling I noticed that my "good-shell standards" have changed! Now they are chosen for their photographic qualities!!!

Ever wonder what reindeer you would be?

***You Are Dancer***

Carefree and fun, you always find reasons to do a happy dance.

Why You’re Naughty: That dark stint you had as Santa’s private dancer.

Why You’re Nice: You’re friendly. Very friendly.

Which of Santa’s Reindeer Are You?

Little Bucki Wings…

Okay, listen very closely for a moment…I am about to reveal a very hidden tidbit about me…ready? I love to bake! Ha! There-I have said it. Now, I know what you are thinking…you are thinking of the girl that cannot cook. The girl who fears the kitchen and relies her hubby to feed her. Yeah, that would be me…I have also blown up a casserole dish while I was within inches of it, tried to cook a frozen pizza on the cardboard, and discovered that Top Ramen is flammable. I know- who woulda thunk it?! But baking is different…it is fun, relaxing even. Especially holiday baking. So this year I decided to tackle a recipe that I have been fearing for a couple of years…my Bucki’s (grandmother) apricot horns-big fat YUM. Let me tell you-these things are scary, at least to me. Cookies? Bring ’em on! Bread? You betcha! Big fat yummy apricot horns? Run for the hills! But I just had to try. After all, I had to make a big recipe trade to get these…so I should at least make a futile attempt. And you know what? Not only did I do it, I freakin nailed it! I swear there were little Bucki angel wings flapping in my kichen, sending me encouragement! I do believe that Bucki would be proud of me…..

Clearly, these qualify for my scavenger hunt…talk about being full of glee at accomplishing this!

Yum-Yum-Yum! Plus, little busy bee me also made fudge, sugar cookies with royal icing, and my very favorite, mexican chocolate crinkle cookies! Yup- I told you I like to bake. Now don’t go telling everyone- I have a reputation to keep 😉

All or Nothing

Pc094571alt5x7web  Okay, so first I am MIA…then you get me two days in a row~I love keeping people on their toes! So guess what I did yesterday? I made my first big photog mistake. We (me, hubby, mom and granma) go out to my most favorite beach yesterday. Ooooh, the photo opportunities! They had the lighthouse all decorated with garland and wreaths and bows. There was a huge iguana chilling out outside of his hole-totally posing for me, I swear! Yup, it was a good picture taking day…if only I had remembered to put the memory card back in the camera 😦 Dumbass! I was so mad—but I figure this is one of those mistakes you make only once! Anyways, I have new stuff for you! You are excited, aren’t you?

A nice low tide allows me to scratch one more of my scavenger hunt list!

Decisions, decisions. I just couldn’t choose between these two for village. I generally am not a huge fan of the christmas villages everyone displays, but this one was so cool! Come on-it has a trailer and a starbucks! What more could you ask for?

Okay, so technically it isn’t a stairwell…but it is close!

     Don’t you love Selby Gardens?!

December 11, 2006

Have you missed me? I have been a bit MIA and therfore totally slacking on this blogaroo. The holidays have a way of doing that, don’t they?! I have desperately been trying to figure out what to do for christmas cards…I am a true procrastinator at heart 😀 I have the picture, not enough paper, and no ooomph. Plus, my mom is visiting for a week, so who wants to blog when you have company?! Plus, it is the holidays…need I say more?!

We went to Selby Gardens over the weekend, so I have LOTS of pictures, I just haven’t gone through them all yet. But I do have a couple…
